Jill Balgaard, DDS
Dr. Jill Balgaard grew up in Ashby, then pursued an undergraduate degree at the University of Minnesota in Duluth where she studied Biology and Spanish. She obtained her doctorate at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2015.
After graduating, Dr. Balgaard and her husband, Shawn, spent a year in Miles City, Montana before moving home to Minnesota and joining LifeSmiles. She’s been serving the dental needs of Fergus Falls and the surrounding communities since 2016.
As a member of the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, and the West Central District Society, Dr. Balgaard is active in advancing dental care via a fellowship of dental professionals. She serves as a delegate for the state’s dental association House of Delegates meeting so she can represent her district, the profession, and the welfare of the patients we serve. Dr. Balgaard has also completed post-graduate coursework focused on offering crown and bridge options utilizing digital technology.
Dr. Jill and Shawn have three young kids who seem to enjoy most of the activities their parents insist upon them. International travel, Gopher football games, and exploring the many Minnesota state parks are among their favorite things to do as a family. On her own time, Jill loves reading historical fiction, listening to a podcast while out on a walk, or plotting her next vacation. Books or travel recommendations always welcome!
Dr. Balgaard has been voted Otter Tail county’s Best Dentist award for the past two consecutive years, and she expresses gratitude to receive such an honor voted on by the community. Dr. Jill feels incredibly fortunate to be able to improve the lives of others through dentistry. “I am passionate about establishing a trusting relationship with each of my patients. I truly believe that a smile can be one’s best feature, and it’s my goal to keep yours healthy and vibrant!”
